Beckhard Change Model is a pretty equation :

SD x V x FS > R = C

where,
SD as Shared Dissatisfaction with the status quo
V as times Vision (or goals, outcomes, desired future)
FS as times First Steps is greater
R as Resistance to change (R),
C as successful Change

If one of the SD, V or FS turns to zero then resistance takes over and project will fail....
